Quickstart
Go from zero to chatting with your first AI agent in under 5 minutes. Follow these steps and you will be up and running in no time.
Step 1: Sign Up
Go to app.autonomis.nexaminds.ai and click "Sign in with Google". Use your company Google account.
That is it for sign-up. No forms to fill out, no email verification. Your company Google account is your Autonomis account.
Step 2: Add Your API Key
Autonomis needs an API key from an AI provider to power your agents. An API key is like a password that lets your agents use the AI service. Here is how to get one:
- Go to console.anthropic.com (for Anthropic/Claude -- the most popular choice)
- Create a free account if you do not have one
- Navigate to "API Keys" and click "Create Key"
- Copy the key (it starts with
sk-ant-)
You can also use keys from Google (Gemini), OpenAI (GPT), or Moonshot (Kimi). You only need one key -- all your agents share it.
Your key is encrypted and stored securely. No one -- not even the Autonomis team -- can see your key after you save it.
Step 3: Create Your First Agent
Now for the fun part -- creating your first AI agent!
- From the dashboard, click "+ New Agent"
- Give it a name -- use something simple like
assistantorresearcher(lowercase letters and numbers only) - Choose a role -- this sets up the agent with the right personality and tools for the job (e.g., "Research Assistant" or "Content Creator")
- Paste your API key if this is your first agent
- Click "Create Agent"
Your agent will be ready in about 60 seconds. You will see a progress indicator while everything is being set up behind the scenes.
Step 4: Chat With Your Agent
Once your agent shows a green "Running" status, you are ready to go!
- Click on your agent's card in the dashboard
- Click "Chat"
- Type a message and press Enter (or click Send)
Try something like: "Hi! What can you help me with?" Your agent will respond based on the role you gave it.
Step 5: Customize With Templates
Want to personalize your agent? Templates let you shape how your agent thinks and behaves. Think of them as instructions you give a new team member on their first day.
Go to your agent's detail page and look for the Templates section. There are four templates you can customize:
- SOUL.md -- Your agent's personality. Who is it? How should it behave? What is its communication style?
- USER.md -- Context about you. Tell the agent about your projects, preferences, and working style so it can tailor its responses.
- TOOLS.md -- Instructions about tools. If your agent has access to special tools or services, explain how to use them here.
- HEARTBEAT.md -- Periodic reminders. Things the agent should keep in mind throughout a conversation.
You do not have to customize these right away -- your agent works great with the defaults. But personalizing templates is the best way to make your agent truly yours.
Step 6: Explore More
Congratulations -- you have your first AI agent up and running! Here are some things to try next:
- → Add more agents -- Create a team! For example, add a "researcher" and a "writer" alongside your first agent.
- → Try group chat -- Talk to multiple agents at once and watch them collaborate on your request.
- → Add secrets -- Give your agents access to other services by adding API keys in Settings.
- → Install skills -- Browse the skills marketplace to give your agents new capabilities.
